Young Forensic Toxicologist Award
Recognizes a young professional who has demonstrated excellence and promise in forensic toxicology.

- The candidate must not be older than 40 years on the last day of IST conference or not senior than Associate Professor level
- Active involvement in forensic toxicology (research, laboratory, teaching, or service)
Young Clinical Toxicologist Award
Awarded to a young clinician or researcher who has made meaningful contributions to clinical toxicology, poison management, or toxicovigilance.

Eligibility
- Must be an IST member
- The candidate must not be older than 40 years on the last day of IST conference or not senior than Associate Professor level
- Active involvement in clinical toxicology or poison management
These awards are named in honour of Dr André Vitor Fernandes,
Professor and Head, Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology,
Goa Medical College, , a long-standing member of IST who has contributed not only financial support but also his time, expertise, and resources to the growth of the Society over many years. These awards are a recognition of his sustained commitment to IST and academic toxicology in India.
Faculty Category
- Dr André Best Paper Award – Forensic Toxicology (Faculty)
- Dr André Best Paper Award – Clinical Toxicology (Faculty)
Cash Prize: ₹5,000/- each
Eligibility
- The candidate must be an IST member
- The candidate must be the first author of the oral abstract
- Only one entry is allowed per applicant. The applicant must choose either a poster or oral presentation
- Paper must be accepted and presented at the current TOXOCON
- Original research in forensic or clinical toxicology
Postgraduate Category
- Dr André Best Paper Award – Forensic Toxicology (PG)
- Dr André Best Paper Award – Clinical Toxicology (PG)
Cash Prize: ₹4,000/- each
Eligibility
- The candidate must be an IST member
- The candidate must be the first author of the oral abstract
- The presenter must be a registered postgraduate student
- Paper must be accepted and presented at TOXOCON
- The work should be primarily conducted by the student
An academic quiz competition conducted during TOXOCON to promote learning and engagement in toxicology.

- Supporting documents (as applicable)
- Copy of accepted abstract (for paper/poster awards)
All submissions must be made within the deadline announced in the TOXOCON circular.
Award Selection Procedure
- All nominations are evaluated by the IST Awards Committee
- Final approval is granted by the IST Executive Committee
- The decision of the committees shall be final
Award Presentation
All IST Awards are formally conferred during the
Annual National Conference of the Indian Society of Toxicology (TOXOCON).
The cash prizes mentioned above are applicable for the year 2025
and are subject to revision from time to time based on IST policies and availability of funds.
